Nabeshima Celadon Porcelain Tea Saucer
The same celadon glaze that made Nabeshima ware the exclusive porcelain of Japan's ruling class for over two centuries appears here in a form that is deliberately understated. Nabeshima Kosen Kiln produces this tea saucer in Okawachiyama, using glaze stone mined from the surrounding hills and processed by the same methods the domain kilns established in the Edo period. The form is quietly considered: a softly squared outline with rounded corners, the celadon glaze covering the raised rim while the recessed center remains in unglazed white porcelain. That contrast is not incidental — the circular well defines the cup's placement while the pale blue-green border frames it. Sized to pair with the Nabeshima Celadon Porcelain Sencha Teacup and Teapot, the saucer completes a tea setting in which every piece shares the same glaze, the same origin, and the same restraint.
