RYOBIAN

RYOBIAN, established in December 2017, focuses on the preservation and innovation of traditional Japanese crafts, specifically Odate Magewappa and Akita cedar woodworking, both recognized as national traditional crafts.

Cherishing the traditional techniques handed down through generations, RYOBIAN continually pushes the boundaries to create "old yet new" Magewappa. The philosophy is to innovate and evolve, even within the realm of traditional crafts, embracing both Japanese and Western design elements. This approach allows RYOBIAN to offer products that not only respect tradition but also enhance modern lifestyles. By enriching the cultural heritage of Japan's traditional crafts, RYOBIAN aims to enrich customers' lives with beautifully crafted, functional products that tell a story of timeless tradition and modern elegance.

A key figure in this journey is Tomoko Ito, a certified traditional craftsman of Odate Magewappa. Since 1993, Ito-san has mastered the intricate art of bentwood, specializing in creating exquisite bento boxes and other wooden items. Her expertise and dedication were formally recognized in 2009 when she received certification in the wood processing division.
