Hozan Kiln

Bizen pottery, one of Japan's oldest and most revered ceramic traditions, traces its roots back over a thousand years. Originating in the Bizen region of Okayama Prefecture, this distinctive pottery style flourished alongside the development of Japanese tea culture. Bizen ware's unique characteristics are deeply rooted in the natural properties of the local clay and the traditional firing techniques employed by skilled artisans.

Today, Bizen ware stands as a symbol of Japanese cultural heritage, revered for its rustic beauty, timeless simplicity, and the deep connection it fosters between nature, art, and everyday life. Hozan Kiln, home to a direct descendant of one of the six original surnames of Bizen Pottery, continues the traditions of this pottery style to this day.
