Founded in 1980, Tanshingama is a renowned Hasami ware kiln specializing in Suisho-bori. Established by artisan Nagasaki Jō, the kiln emerged from a lineage of pottery craftsmanship, refining the traditional Hotaru-yaki technique into a uniquely transparent, radiant effect now recognized as Suisho-bori, or 'crystal carving,' for its luminous and transparent qualities.
