Gen-emon Kiln Arita Flower Karakusa Sake Cup

Sale price$169.00

This is the sake cup from Gen-emon Kiln's Flower Karakusa series, available here as a single piece. The Arita porcelain body is white and fine, carrying the full Flower Karakusa composition across its exterior: cobalt blue vines and serrated leaves moving in continuous arabesque, with iron red peony flowers in full bloom set against the white ground, and small green accents at the leaf joints that give the pattern a quiet precision. The interior is glazed in a deep, even cobalt that makes the cup feel complete from every angle. A thin line border encircles the foot, grounding the decoration without interrupting it. Gen-emon Kiln has worked within the Arita ceramic tradition of Saga Prefecture since the Meiji era, maintaining hand-painting standards that resist the uniformity of industrial production. Alone, it holds its own. Paired with others from the same series, it becomes part of something larger.

A Gen-emon Kiln Arita porcelain sake cup with a rounded body, deep cobalt blue interior, and hand painted exterior featuring a continuous cobalt blue karakusa vine motif with iron red peony flowers and green leaf accents, with a thin line border at the foot, photographed against a white background.
